HMR Preliminary Week Results

Total weight lost during first week:  -7 lbs
Total weight lost since I restarted serious dieting:  -18 lbs

Go me!  =)

I had some trouble staying in the box on Fri, Sat, and then Sunday was a wash, but I didn't go overboard with anything so it could have been worse.  I also had an 11 lb. weight loss week a few weeks ago, so I think -7 is okay for a first week.  Today I'm back on track, ready for a new week.

I got asked why I switched from Medifast to HMR, and it's for a few of reasons:
  1. HMR offers weigh-ins and classes, and it's affiliated with my healthcare provider.
  2. They have an option where I can be medically supervised for the first 12 weeks and I'm considering doing that.  The problem is there's always a wait list for any of their programs except the diet-at-home option, which I'm doing for now while I wait for my start date (in May).
  3. HMR has more low- or non-soy options.  The shake I drink 3 times/day doesn't have any soy in it, and when I picked out entrees I chose the lower or non-soy versions as well.  MF only has 1 (maybe 2) non-soy things I like which are the hot chocolate (and maybe the eggs).  The other non-soy things are a couple of drinks (which I can't stand).  Massive amounts of soy make my periods stop which, while nice, can't be good.
  4. I have two young kids (6 and 3) and a husband that works late most nights so I have to cook.  My family isn't interested in salads or lean and greens every night, so I end up cooking something different for them, or at least have to make them a starch.  If I still haven't eaten by the time their dinner is ready I am so hungry that I am likely to cheat.  If I eat my Lean/Green during lunch, then when I make their dinner, again, I'm likely to cheat.
  5. The HMR entrees are so easy.  I nuke them for a minute and then eat as a meal, so I get a lunch and then a dinner.  I usually eat the dinner entree before I get my family's dinner ready, or else I can eat it with them at the table.
  6. I think HMR tastes better.  There are a few entrees I really like, and I also like the chocolate shakes and I don't have to deal with lumps like I do in the hot chocolate.  I don't dread the HMR food the way I do the MF food.
All that being said, I still have a bunch of MF meals and I'll keep sprinkling a few in here and there.  They'd also be good for emergency rations.  :)

Good luck on your HMR program. I just started it last week. The first day... hard! But getting easier!

I'm blogging about this experience as well.
